A Christmas Miracle for Sro Aem!

Donation protected

In February 2020, I visited Cambodia with the World Vision Child Ambassador team.  On one of the days of our trip, we sat with a group of mothers at a health care center, and they bravely shared their stories with us. One mother shared with us about her two-year old daughter named Sro Aem. I looked over at the young girl. She was beautiful. She reminded me a lot of my own three-year old daughter. As I listened, my heart sank hearing that Sro Aem was paralyzed due to birth complications. Complications that could have been so easily prevented  with proper medical care and equipment. Her mother fought back tears. She explained how all of their resources were going to helping Sro Aem. Because of the extreme strain on their family to care for Sro Aem, they were told by a doctor to "just let her die". Then I started to fight tears. I can't imagine. I can't imagine someone saying those words to me about my children. I would fight with all of my being for them. And I saw that same strong love and same will to fight in the eyes if Sro Aem's mother.

I knew, as we climbed in to the World Vision van, that we couldn't just drive away and have that be the end of the story. I knew World Vision had just started working in that community, but my heart broke for Sro Aem and her family. We needed to get specific help for them - NOW.

This Christmas, our family is raising over $2,000 to make a miracle happen for Sro Aem and her family. God is intervening in this little girl's life, and we get to be part of it!! With this money, World Vision will partner with Sro Aem's family to help create a sustainable family business that they can run. With a stable business, they will be able to provide the funds they need THEMSELVES for Sro Aem's care: money for transportation to the medical center where Sro Aem is receiving care, food, clean water, diapers, clean clothes, money for school. The money we are raising for Sro Aem this Christmas will be a hand UP, not a hand out, to her family!!

I know you, the reader, haven't met this family. And it's an incredible ask for you to give to someone you've never met, or probably never will meet. But I strongly believe we have the opportunity to dramatically change this girl's life, and her family's lives.

I can't help but put myself in her mother's shoes - to know that help was coming. To know that she wasn't alone in her fight for Sro Aem.  It would mean everything - EVERYTHING, to me.

Thank you SO much for your help for this family, friends. I will post all the updates here that I receive about Sro Aem, and all the financial receipts too, so you know the money you donate is going towards helping her <3.

I will post all updates and financial receipts here, so you can follow along to know where your donations are going. Here is the breakdown for the sugar cane business, chicken raising business, education, and hygiene supplies that the family needs. Again, having a stable business/income will create a sustainable way for the family to stay together and care for Sro Aem!!
