My daughter Christyna and her fiancé Jordan were blessed with a gift of life, Zayne Isaac Miller born April 5th 2014. Christyna had a wonderful pregnancy and was excited to give birth to her first child, however due to complication during labor Zayne was born via an emergency C section. Our grandson suffered from HIE, Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (brain injury due to lack of oxygen). The doctors diagnosed Zayne as a severe case and were not confident that he would make it. The amount of brain damage Zayne had endured was extreme. The brain injury affected his speech, vision, hearing, memory, motion and breathing. 60 percent of newborns with a severe case of HIE, die. Many, if not all, that survive have extreme handicaps. On April 12th 2014 Zayne was taken off the ventilator; let me tell you people, an infant's ability to heal is amazing! Zayne is a fighter, he breathes on his own, he moves and several days later we heard him cry! God is Gracious! As Zayne continues to fight we would like to start preparing a stress free and healthy environment for Zayne and family when he is able to come home. It will be a long journey for our young family but with the support of friends and family it will be a great one. Thank you all and God Bless.
