Clean Water Mission to El Salvador
Donation protected
Our team of 12 co-workers is raising money for a group mission trip to El Salvador to drill a clean water well for a village. Roughly 5 million people live in the countrysides of El Salvador and only 25% of them have access to water in their homes. The rest walk miles to the nearest stream or spring. Some spend up to 4 hours a day carrying water or bringing their clothing and dishes to the water spot to clean them. The water is unclean. 90% of the water sources in the countryside are contaminated.
In the area of El Salvador where we will be working villagers drink water full of pollutants and pesticides --- contaminated by livestock farms and sugar cane fields. The contaminations cause liver disease, stomach illnesses and other health issues. Our goal is to work with a local community to drill a clean water well. We dig down through the volcanic rock in the area to the clean aquifers and set up pump systems for the villagers to access the clean water.
The well we dig will support up to 200 people, providing them clean, healthy water in a central location to the village so that less time is spent collecting water.
All funds raised will be used to fund our trip - including drilling the well and setting it up so the community can use it for decades to come. Our group is going through the non-profit Living Water International.
Won't you help us bring clean, disease-free water to a community in El Salvador? Donate today and help us reach our goal.
