My Sister, Wendy, is a Mother of 5 beautiful children (Aiden, Conner, Drake, Chandra, & Delaney). Wendy is beautiful, young, caring, and compassionate, and puts her children and others first before her self. Stong and nurturing, she has always proven to be the epitome of what a mother should be.

Unfortuately, life as we know it has taken a turn for the worse for our family. On Tuesday August 19th 2014, my Sister, Wendy, is diagnosed with Cancer. Doctors have confirmed that Wendy has Acute Myeloid Leukemia...

Wendy was transported to UC Davis Medical Center via ER to conduct further testing. Her bone marrow test concluded that she has Leukemia but dismissed the mild case and detected a more aggresive type of Leukemia in her blood.

What is Leukemia?
According to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org), leukemia is a blood cancer that affects the bone marrow. Leukemia develops when blood cells produced in the bone marrow grow out of control. The four most common types of leukemia are acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Each main type of leukemia is named according to the type of cell that's affected and whether the disease begins in mature or immature cells.

To make matters worse or uncertian, granted she was diagnosed with a more aggressive type of Leukemia, Wendy was 25 weeks pregnant at the time she was diagnosed. This brought challenges to the Docotrs at UC Davis.

My sister or no one for that matter deserves this. Her stay at the UC Davis Medical Center has been increased to several months at a time. This puts a load on everybody else to help pitch in with taking care of her kids, feeding, bathing, getting them ready for school, to simple hugs and kisses mothers and fathers provide.
