Help Bob & Cyndi Regroup

Dear Friends & Family of the Johnsons.

Update 9/20/17- Video slide show from today.

**UPDATE**9/18/17 (If this is your first read-scroll below to get the full story).
These photos just came in as Bob & Cyndi made it to their home. Bob says the neighborhood is "devastated." Things of theirs are missing and things that belong to others are in their yard.

Original Post: 9/16/17 If you've never had to decide what you could fit in a suitcase, look back one more time, and leave your home for good, count your blessings. Cyndi & Bob grabbed some clothes, a few papers, Kona the dog, and their wedding album. They then drove to Marathon Key to pick up Cyndi's Mom Betty, and headed north to stay with Ryan, Jeni & Arya.

It's been rough as you can imagine. Cudjoe Key, where they lived, was the first place Irma made landfall and got the brunt of the impact. It was right in the eye of the storm, there is not much left of the island.

Bob & Cyndi are waiting to be able to get down to Cudjoe Key to see what is left of their home.  NOAA ariel photos show that only half of their family room is there, which does not bode well for the rest of the structure.

On top of that, just three weeks earlier, Cyndi & her sister Cheryl relocated their Mom from central Florida, where she had lived her whole life, to be closer to them. She had down-sized all her belongings to only the very most important things, and her precious "collections." The roof is gone off of Betty's apartment. Last night Betty told me she is getting a lesson in "it's just stuff."

I can only hope that if I ever have to face this kind of event, I will be able to face it with one-tenth the strength and courage that these three have. When we talked to them about setting up this Go Fund Me campaign, their response was "other people need it more."

When John and I first moved to Florida Bob & Cyndi went out of their way to make sure we were welcome and comfortable. Nothing was too hard or too big for them to do. I know that you have experienced the same.

Bob & Cyndi are the type of people that do for others all the time without hesitation, questions or need for recognition. Whether you have shared a laugh, a trouble, a vacation, a neighborhood, a school event, or a job with these two, I know you know the joy and friendship that they represent to all of us. Now it is our turn to give back.

How you can help:

Please donate as generously as you can.  Funds will be immediately used for transportation and temporary shelter. Later they will be used to replace clothes, household items and furniture. Bob & Cyndi's main concern is for Betty.

Please share this campaign. All of you who have shared their lives can now share their story. Please send to your friends and family via email, social media and everywhere.

Please share your story. All of us have favorite stories with the Johnson's. Bob, Cyndi, Kelsey, Ryan, Jeni & Arya are close to our hearts. I am sure they know you are thinking of them, but leave a message here so they can see it first-hand.

WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK!!!!

My favorite movie is "It's a Wonderful Life." It's such a good reminder about what is important in life. The Baily's find out how rich they are - in friendship and love- after everyone pitches in to help them out.

Please give as generously as you can.

Bob's sister, speaking for all of us.
