Hello, Everyone,
My name is Vivianne LaRiviere. I live in St. Lazare, QC, Canada. I am a senior (62+) and definitely a late bloomer! I decided to go back to school at the age of 50, and even though I knew it would be an exceptionally steep climb, I am finally finding myself very close to the summit. And, I need your help. I have arrived at the final stages of my doctorate, and it is time to evaluate and analyze the results of my project and to write my thesis.
Although I am deeply grateful for the scholarships and awards, and bursaries and the ton of support I received along the way, this chapter is the toughest yet. My government funding has run out, as have the available bursary monies. I'm working part-time but feel the need to dedicate most of my time to writing so that I can get this done by Christmas, spring at the very latest. Also, I humbly admit to being a person of permanent disability,
therefore, my nature is sensitive to the environment of stress and pressure. I need time and space to be able to dedicate myself completely to the daunting task in front of me. And so, I am reaching out for help.
The focus of my doctoral work is dealing with the soul and spiritual illnesses. And how the convergence of art and spirituality may not only help us name our vulnerable pieces that need healing but to also provide us with the pathways toward spiritual transformation. This work was done in a retreat format, with the hope that once I am published, I can reach out to a variety of retreat centres to present this work: for it does deal with a holistic-artistic approach to healing. The work also focuses on bringing the area of theology and the arts into focus. Through this theartofsoulcare.com has been born!
I need to cover my tuition for the rest of the year which totals close to $3000.00 + my living expenses, including rent, utilities, and food until spring - until which time I present my dissertation. I humbly admit I have often been told: "You would make such a great teacher!" Regardless of my age, I would like to make this a dream come true. And to also provide inspiration for others who think it might be 'too late' to achieve your dreams. It is never too late! Confidence, hope, faith, and trust that if we are called to become what we are passionate about, and love the most, and so desire to follow the path that gives us joy - these are all tell-tale markers of the journey. We can learn to listen to that Voice that helps us lead the way. That same Voice spoke to me yesterday - saying 'do this.' And so....I am trusting this will work!
