Ayuda a las familias damnificadas en Asunción Ixtaltepec tras el terremoto en Oaxaca.

Únete a la brigada de apoyo a las familias damnificadas del pueblo de Asunción Ixtaltepec, Oaxaca, que a raíz del terremoto de magnitud 8.2 escala de Richter que la noche del jueves, 7 de septiembre, azotó en el sur de México, cientos de personas quedaron desamparadas tras perder sus casas, pertenencias, trabajos, y alimentos.

Asunción Ixtaltepec es una comunidad de aproximadamente 14,000 habitantes donde se estima que el 80% de las viviendas sufrieron daños estructurales severos e irreparables, y más de 10 muertos por causas del terremoto, por lo que el gobierno estatal declaró a esta comunidad como una de las más devastadas en la región del Istmo de Tehuantepec.

Por una parte, tragicamente cientos de sobrevivientes ixtaltepecanas(os) se han quedado sin hogar, algunos han tenido que abandonar sus hogares temporalmente, y decenas duermen en las calles por miedo a las fuertes réplicas, que hasta el momento se han reportado más de 5,300 temblores en la región del Istmo.

Por otra parte, desafortunadamente, el sábado, 23 de septiembre, tres fuertes temblores ocurrieron en esa región: en la zona de Ixtepec (pueblo vecino de Ixtaltepec) fue de 6.2 grados escala de Richter, de 5.8 frente a las costas de Oaxaca, y 4.2 en Salina Cruz. Los daños en Ixtaltepec fue de 2 muertos, siete heridos, más de una decena de viviendas colapsadas, y el puente principal desplomado.

Aunque la reconstrucción de Asunción Ixtaltepec tomará tiempo ya que su economía, sostenida a base de la alfarería, agricultura y venta de alimentos, colapsó a raíz del terremoto , ahora hay necesidades vitales que cubrir como son: el agua, alimentos, artículos de higiene personal, artículos para bebés, materiales de curación, y donde resguardarse en albergues ya que está lloviendo a causa del clima de otoño y los recientes huracanes que pasaron por el Golfo y Pacífico.

Gracias a tu donativo se podrá ayudar a las familias de Asunción Ixtaltepec en la construcción de viviendas temporales, hornos de alfarería y de pan, así como la posible creación de otras fuentes de empleo para que los pobladores no se vean forzados a emigrar por la falta de trabajos y de vivienda.

Help surviving families in Asuncion Ixtaltepec after the deadly earthquake in Oaxaca.

Join the brigade in support of the surviving families from "Asuncion Ixtaltepec, Oaxaca ," which was severly damaged after the deadly 8.2-magnitude earthquake that hit in southern Mexico on Thursday, September 7th, leaving hundreds of civilians without their belongings, homeless, jobless, with food scarcity, and injured.

Asunción Ixtaltepec is a town of approximately 14,000 habitants where it is estimated that 80% of homes suffered severe and irreparable structural damages , and, up to last Sunday, there were 10 deaths. The state government declared this community as one of the most devastated places in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

On one hand, tragically hundreds of Ixtaltepecan survivors houses collapsed, some have had to leave their homes temporarily, and dozens more sleep in the streets for fear of strong aftershocks, which so far have been reported more than 5,300 in the region of Istmo.

On the other hand, unfortunately, on Saturday, September 23rd, three strong earthquakes occurred in that region: in Ixtepec's area (neighboring town of Ixtaltepec) it was 6.2-magnitude, 5.8 off the coast of Oaxaca, and 4.2 in Salina Cruz. The aftermath in Ixtaltepec was 2 dead, seven injured, more than a dozen collapsed houses, and the main bridge collapsed.

Although Ixtaltepec's reconstruction will take time to recover because its economy, based on pottery, agriculture, and food sales, has collapsed in the aftermath, now there are vital needs such as: water, food, personal hygiene items, baby supplies, emergency kit materials, and shelters as it is raining due to autumn weather and the recent hurricantes that passed though the Gulf and Pacific.

Thanks to your donation, it will help families of Asunción Ixtaltepec in the building of: temporary housing, pottery and bread ovens, as well as creating sources of employment so that residents are not forced to migrate for lack of jobs and housing.
