Medical Bills for Melissa

This past week my best friend's wife was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Myasthenia Gravis is caused by a defect in the transmission of nerve impulses to muscles. It can cause weakness in the arms/legs, chronic muscle fatigue, difficulty chewing/swallowing, and difficulty breathing. Melissa was taken to the hospital after experiencing the above symptoms and a week later she remains extremely weak. Complications have arisen during her time in the hospital. The rapid response team was called in early in the week and she was transferred to the ICU. Later in the week she became unresponsive and was almost intubated before medication arrived and she became responsive. Doctors have also considered putting her on a ventilator. Melissa also has thymoma, a tumor of the thymus gland, which is common in individuals with MG. Doctors have yet to decide if surgery should be done to remove the tumor or not.

I start this campaign, hoping to raise money for the upcoming medical expenses they will soon be facing. Future hospital visits, treatments, and possible surgery will be in Melissa's future. With Melissa out of work until she gets her strength back, they will need any assistance they can get to help pay for her medical bills.
