Medical Expense & Physical Rehab Fund for Tyler

Donation protected
I have set up this page to help this sweet family with the mounting medical bills, expected ongoing expenses for long-term physical rehabilitation, and preparation for a prosthesis.  Please see below:

Tyler experienced a tragic accident on February 27th while working with some power tools.  He suffered a traumatic, partial amputation to his left hand. Tyler was rushed to the emergency room and, after being stabilized and then evaluated by the orthopedist on call, the decision was made to transfer Tyler to Atrium’s trauma unit where he underwent emergency surgery with several hand specialists.  Tyler knew going into surgery that two of his fingers were, unfortunately not salvageable and the focus was to save a third finger in order to give him the best prognosis and that which would give him the best quality of life.  The surgery was a success in that regard, but he sadly lost a significant portion of his hand.

This accident was devastating to Tyler, his son Wesley (who was there when it happened), and to all of us who love him.  Those of you who know Tyler, will not be surprised that through it all, Tyler has faced this with strength, grace, and positivity.  So much so, that he has often been the one consoling his loved ones.  However, now that a month has passed and the shock has worn off, the reality of what is ahead of Tyler has started to settle in.  Tyler has begun what will be a year of painful physical therapy and faces potential additional surgery.  He must work on retraining his nerves, building back strength, and begin preparing his hand for a future prosthesis.

If you know Tyler, you know he never met a stranger!  He is kind, charming, and easy to talk to.  He is energetic, a hard worker, a lover of all sports, and an avid golfer.  He is a good friend, a great husband, and an even better father!  We all pray for patience as he learns to navigate the roadblocks this injury throws his way.  Tyler has faced some other challenges in his young life and always did the right thing, even when it was difficult, so we have no doubt he will face this with the same amazing courage.

Tyler is a tradesman who relies on his hands to work – he is determined to get back at it but has been unable to return to work at full capacity.  Medical bills for the emergency room, hospital transport, and the initial surgery are beginning to come in.  Most of this, as well as the ongoing physical therapy and future prosthesis, are well above the insurance they have.  Accepting help is difficult for a lot of people, and Tyler is no exception.   Our goal, however, is to help relieve the financial stress so Tyler can focus on healing both physically and emotionally, on rehabilitation, and being there for his young and growing family.

Tyler, would be the first in line to offer help to anyone else in this situation . . . now it’s his turn.  We humbly ask for your prayers for Tyler’s continued healing, transition to his new normal, and a speedy return of his quality of life.  If you are so inclined to donate to this fund to help with the mounting medical expenses, please know we are so very grateful.

We will keep you all posted on his progress!  #TylersTurn
