Hope For Erika

Breast cancer is not just a disease that strikes women. It strikes at the very heart of who they are as women. How others perceive them and how they perceive themselves, how they live, work, raise families, or whether they do those things at all. They are forced to cope not only with a life-threatening illness and the many physical and emotional issues that come with it but also the crisis with their femininity, body image, and self-esteem.

In late October, our lives abruptly changed when Erika was diagnosed with an invasive form of breast cancer.
To say she was completely blindsided is an understatement. With her nearly decade long plant-based lifestyle, zero family history, and overall consciousness in living a natural, holistic lifestyle, it's left so many unanswered questions as to how did this happen?

With cancer comes darkness. In new, unfamiliar territory it can be hard to know which way to go even with medical professionals telling you which way to head. After seeking out a great oncologist, interviewing several surgeons, and enlisting the help of a wonderful Naturopathic Doctor, Erika started down the suggested path of chemotherapy followed by surgery and radiation. All supported by a regimen of supplements and nutritional IVs to try and lessen the toxic burden of chemotherapy. We have been researching since the day of diagnosis, hoping to find some alternative to this traditional path that does not leave the body weak and destroyed. But nothing else was offered and she was told this route would give her the best outcome especially since cancer had already spread to nearby lymph nodes.

She is currently halfway through chemotherapy and enduring all the side effects that come with it and then some. She was happy and healthy with no symptoms before discovering a cancerous lump. Now, she is sicker than she's ever been due to the non-discriminatory nature of chemotherapy on the body's cells. And with surgery and radiation comes more stress.

We're continuing to research studies in major medical journals and reading everything we can on pub-med. With new information comes new questions to her doctors and answers we were not expecting. She was recently told to expect a 20-30% effectiveness with this chemotherapy treatment for her sub-type of breast cancer. Some peer-reviewed studies report chemotherapy effectiveness as low as 3%. We've learned that secondary cancers are known complications of chemotherapy and radiation. It turns out cancer treatment is not a one-size-fits-all scenario. Heartbreaking doesn't begin to cover it.

What we're finding is that there is so much evidence out there for various alternative therapies, complete with clinical trials carried out mostly outside the US. The majority of which fall into the category of immunotherapy. Immunotherapies target the person's immune system and harness it to fight cancer. Here in the states, the FDA tells us they are protecting us from alternative cancer treatments since they have not been scientifically proven (in this country) to be effective and they may delay the more effective conventional cancer treatments from doing their job. This doesn't mean the doctors are evil. Many of the doctors thus far have been wonderful and genuinely want to heal Erika. But they are silenced by the FDA. They cannot even mention some of these alternative life-saving therapies for fear of ridicule, or losing their license and their funding. Cancer is big business and the FDA is the armed security.

So, where does this leave us?
We've pinpointed several evidence-based therapies that have plenty of science to back them up. These include Curcumin Intravenous Therapy, The Salvus program, Sono-Photo Dynamic Therapy, and the Sunivera Immunotherapy Program. The FDA has banned several of these and refuses to approve SPDT. Sunivera Immunotherapy is a powerful immunomodulatory program that restores the ability of the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. It is astronomically expensive in the USA and often not covered by insurance. However, all of these therapies are widely accepted in most other developed countries.

These therapies are what she truly believes will give her the best chance for not just a high quality of life but for a complete recovery. All of these therapies are widely available at Hope For Cancer in Mexico. Not only do they provide these and many other integrative therapies, but they also work to figure out WHY she got cancer in the first place. Something she was told in Atlanta to "not spend energy trying to figure out because you will never know." For Erika, she believes it's imperative to her future to get to the bottom of the root cause. Positive change can't be made if we don't understand the "why" and "how." In her case, the risk of recurrence could be greatly reduced if we had these answers. And the team at Hope for Cancer believes they can accomplish this. Their focus is not just on healing the physical body but also the soul.

Someone who has no genealogy for ANY cancer, who does not smoke or drink and lives a life of peace and harmony should not have cancer. Nobody should, but in this toxic world, it's something that can strike at any moment. She's long been plant-exclusive in her diet, she is two-step juicing like crazy, taking all the right supplements and receiving intravenous Vitamin support. None of which is covered by insurance. Insurance even denied her wig. Time is of the essence as it is a stage 2, nearly stage 3 diagnosis and she would have liked to start the immunotherapy treatments months ago. We are selling our house and other possessions to cover some of the costs. But our insane healthcare deductible has already left us limping to make even the most basic ends meet. Without some of our family helping us who knows where we would be. We are grateful for that. She is worthy of more. I believe she is meant for more. To help others. To show them the way. Traveling to receive life-saving treatments at Hope for Cancer will allow her to do that.

Erika is hopeful that the treatment at Hope For Cancer will enable her to supercharge her immune system, empower her with the tools to keep this disease in check long-term and allow her to live a longer life. I am hopeful too. Any help you can give her is forever appreciated whether that be financial support to get to Hope for Cancer Mexico or prayers to your God or even just healing thoughts.
