Tripp's Tummy Trust

Donation protected
Tripp was born at 36 weeks on December 6, 2013 at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, weighing 4lbs 11oz.  Born with Gastroschisis, this means Tripp had a hole in his abdominal wall and his intestines developed outside his body.  In a rare complication, the small intestines twisted, lost their blood supply, and died.   At 5 hours old Tripp had his first surgery to remove 98% of his small intestines and a small part of his large intestines.  An average baby is born with 250 centimeters of Small Intestines and Tripp was left with only 5 centimeters. Within 24 hours we were given the heartbreaking news by doctors that Tripp's only chance of survival is to receive a bowel transplant. Tripp was 6 days old when he had his second surgery to connect his large intestines to the 2% of small intestine that remain.

Since birth Tripp has been in the NIC Unit of the Niswonger Children's Hospital (Johnson City Medical's sister hospital) in Johnson City, Tennessee, receiving a TPN feeding tube which drips nutrient solution directly into his veins, without his small intestines Tripp has no means of absorbing nutrients from oral bottle feedings.  Tripp will remain in Niswonger's NIC Unit until he reaches the required 20 pounds for a bowel transplant.  Doctors have told us this could possibly take up to one year of age, then and only then at 20 pounds is when Tripp will be placed on the transplant recipient list awaiting a small intestine.  We are grateful to God that at 4 months old Tripp weighs 11 pounds, over half way to his weight goal.  As of today the designated hospital for transplant is Duke Children's Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.

How you can help?
Pray -
The best way to help our sweet little boy is to pray for a successful transplant for Tripp and his medical teams at Niswonger Children's Hospital and Duke Children's Hospital.  We believe in miracles and are asking for one that allows Tripp the chance every child deserves, health and happiness.

Donate - Countless people have been asking how they can help Tripp which is what prompted our family to organize a donation fund for Tripp. If you would like to help Tripp, please pray and if you can give a love donation give what God places on your heart.  Any amount no matter of size, will be a true blessing to Tripp and his recovery.  This trust is 100% for Tripp yes, daily travel to the hospital for some of us can take a financial toll but it is what it is, not one dime of Tripp's trust will be used toward anything but Tripp's medical expenses and recovery.

A big heartfelt thanks for your prayers, support and generosity!

Lord, we are grateful for you blessing us with this precious gift and beautiful baby boy Tripp, he has brightened every day of our lives since coming into this world.  As sickness has invaded our precious little Tripp, we stand by watching and feeling helpless.  But Lord,we are reminded that we are not helpless but powerful in prayer.  We lift up Tripp, and we ask for your healing power to touch him with your almighty healing hands. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen
