Help for mom's brain tumor recovery

Donation protected
Ever since I was born, my mother has been the pillar of strength that held me up, doing everything in her power to give me the world. I am a rising junior at Ole Miss, where I work as a community assistant with freshmen while maintaining straight A's. My success is all thamy mother's dedication and all her sacrifices over the years. Today, I would like to ask your help in returning that favor. I am hoping to raise a modest sum of $10,000 to offset her loss of income and pay her staggering medical bills as she recovers from invasive neurosurgery to remove a large meningioma. She will also be undergoing Gamma-Knife radiation to finish the treatment. This all adds up quickly, and I am out of my depth. We need help.

After a few terrible years of unemployment, foreclosure, and no health insurance, things finally started to look up for us. Unfortunately, my mother was recently diagnosed with an aggressive meningioma situated in between her optic nerves just as she got back on her feet. By the time of her diagnosis, she had lost all sight in her right eye due to the tumor's position. This type of tumor is very slow-growing, and her doctors suspect it had been growing for decades. It may have gone on unnoticed if not for its position, as it began crowding everything in that small space out. The tumor was wrapped around all of the nerves in that area as well as her carotid artery, making surgery a dangerous task. However, the risk was necessary as the tumor would soon make her fully blind and possibly even paralysis.

On May 29, 2014, my mom was admitted to the hospital, where she underwent a tumor embolization procedure that stopped the bloodflow to the vessels feeding the tumor. Because of this procedure, her surgery on May 30, 2014 went better than anyone could have hoped, with minimal bleeding and damage. The tumor could not be fully removed, but she will undergo Gamma-Knife radiation in the coming weeks in order to shrink the tumor even further.

Unfortunately, this surgery will have her out of commission for months, and we have no idea when she will be able to work again. Although we have every reason to be optimistic, this leaves me in a very precarious position as regard to finances and her care. We have very little income right now, and I am taking care of her and our household affairs completely alone. I must continue to work and go to school in order to keep the household going and fulfill my mother's dream for me. With her medical bills piling up every second and my small student worker salary, I'm seriously struggling. I cannot support the household fully on my own, and I must ask for help to offset her loss of income and the staggering bills. . I am hoping to raise $10,000 to keep us afloat during her recovery, pay the medical bills, and ensure that I can remain in college unimpeded. Please help me make this dream possible. She gave me the world- now I must do the same for her.
