Please help us raise money in honour of Tony, for the charity he led and volunteered with - Schools Out/LGBT+ History Month.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tony Fenwick, LGBT+ Education pioneer and lifelong active member of the NUT and the National Education Union. Tony was a teacher, a founding member of the National Union of Teachers LGBT+ structures, a local union Equality Officer in Luton, the CEO of Schools OUT UK and the co-chair of LGBT History Month. He was well known amongst LGBT+ activists and frequently attended TUC LGBT+ conferences. Liked by all and praised by many, Tony’s tenacious approach to LGBT+ inclusive education earned him an MBE in 2017.
Tony’s day to day role was to teach children who were unable to attend school due to medical reasons. It was a role he cherished and often talked about"
We've chosen the organisation Schools Out UK, listed here as LGBT History Month, because that's exactly what he would have wanted and the Schools Out family needs our help right now.
For those that don't know, Schools Out is an organisation that seeks to bring about a fully LGBT+ inclusive curriculum and founded LGBT+ History Month. Its a charity run by LGBT+ Educators and funded by Unions and good folk like you.
Thank you for your contribution and we will be in touch about an event which will take place next year to commemorate our Tony.
