Five short days before Christmas we suddenly lost Tom ~ Mr. Kiwi Kraze, a man who enriched our community like no other. He always made us laugh, smile and feel so welcome. He was an amazing friend, funny and there is such an emptiness now in the lives of so many of us.
We are not the only ones who lost this great man. Tom left behind his wife Karyn and step-daughter, 11 yr old Kassidy. In losing Tom, Karyn has not only lost her best friend, but also her livelihood. Over the past couple of months, with no real income, Karyn has had the sad task of closing down Kiwi, saying goodbye to all the memories created in the store and the tedious chore of dealing with the lawyers, banks and accountants. These people don't do their jobs for free!!
As we sit here remembering our friend and begin healing the tremendous hole in our hearts, I can't push back my need to help any longer. Tom's passing was sudden and unexpected. As he had survived cancer twice before, Tom didn't qualify for life insurance and with every last dime put back into keeping Kiwi Kraze alive for all of us, he left very little behind to sustain his girls. My goal is to ease Karyn's financial worry as much as possible. I know with every part of me that Karyn would never ask anyone for help, but Helpless is what I feel. So this my friend is my way of helping. It helps ease our own pain making sure that you and your beautiful little girl can start moving your life forward the way Tom would have wanted you to.
So as spring returns and we all wish that we could go spend one more night at Kiwi with Mr. Tom, please instead show your ongoing support for our beloved Commander Tom by sharing here for Karyn & Kassidy's future.
