Africa Mission Trip

Monica and I
will be traveling to Burkina Faso in Africa with Monterey Church and Compassion
International in January. (Yes, it is
quite a long trip from Hawaii!) Compassion
has been working in Burkina Faso since 2004, and currently more than 21,000
children participate in more than 100 child development centers, but there are
countless thousands more who will likely die of starvation or disease without
our help. During our trip we will be sharing
the gospel and forming partnerships with local churches and denominations to
help provide the children of Burkina Faso the opportunity to rise above their
circumstances by providing food, medical care, and education so that they can become all that God has created them to be.
Burkina Faso is one of the poorest, most underdeveloped countries in the world. Only 66% of those living in rural areas have clean, sanitary drinking water, and only 41% of those in urban areas and only 6% of those in rural areas have adequate sanitation facilities. The literacy rate is 29% for males, and 15% for females. Over 57% of the population lives on less than $1.25 per day. The country's high population density and limited natural resources result in poor economic prospects for the majority of its citizens. Recent unrest in Cote d'Ivoire and northern Ghana has hindered the ability of several hundred thousand seasonal farm workers from Burkina Faso to find employment in neighboring countries.
Please help us share God's love with those who are truly "the least of these." Any gift you give will go directly toward funding our trip to Burkina Faso.
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:40)
