Theta Phi Alpha Cycling Needs Help!
Hello Family and Friends! We are the women of the 2018 Theta Phi Alpha Little 500 Bike Team! Our dedicated team of 13 riders (perhaps the largest team in history) is currently raising money to compete in the historic Indiana University Little 500 Bike Race which raises thousands of dollars for student scholarships every year!
As a newer team formed less than a decade ago, it has been difficult for us to establish ourselves and find success in the Little 500 community. However, everything changed when we went from a 26th place team with no direction in 2016 to a 15th place team in 2017. Last year, 8 weeks before the 2017 race, We teamed with legendary cycling coach Courtney Bishop, whose claim to fame was winning the 2012 and 2016 men's Little 500 with one of the highest average finishes in race history.
At our first meeting, he told us that he would ..."Do what he could in 8 weeks", but by next year we would be in a position to win the race, and believe me, coming from 26th, that sounded crazy to us all. However, in 8 short weeks leading up to the race, he helped us move up 11 places from the previous year to 15th--our best finish ever! This year, we honestly believe we have a chance to win the 2018 Little 500!

Donations to this page will directly help with the costs of team registration, supplies, and the purchasing of the Little 500 bicycles, warm weather clothing, and much needed equipment! Theta Phi Alpha is a proud member of the Bloomington and Indiana University community and has set forth the goal of creating a legacy of winning the Little 500 with your help this year! We genuinely appreciate any and all contributions (big or small) for you are giving us the opporutnity to do great things for the honor of Theta Phi Alpha and to race in one of the best student-run organizations in the country.
