Humberto was a quiet man, but worked very hard for his family. He was always eager to help and to learn. Humberto was part of one of our top performing crews with a high quality score on our NPS scale of over 79%. This crew along with Humberto, had won our Crew of the Quarter award three times in the past 2 years.
On Wednesday, November 8, 2017, Humberto was working with our crew and volunteered to operate the sprayer on top of the scaffold to paint a 15 foot high ceiling with dryfall paint. Humberto was learning to operate the sprayer and wanted the opportunity to demonstrate his skills. After about 3 hours of work, he had completed the first coat and he and the crew were preparing to take a break for lunch.
He removed his safety harness and was turning to come down from the scaffold when he appeared to lose his balance and fall. He suffered a concussion and was air lifted to shock trauma in Baltimore. The doctors worked to relieve pressue in his skull and placed him on life support. Sadly, Humberto never regained consciousness and past away on Thursday, November 30.
Insurance will cover the medical costs. However, Humberto's mother and father wish to have him buried near their home in Guatemala.
We are opening this site to ask for your assistance in paying for the transportation costs to and funeral costs in Guatemala. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. Humberto's mother had recently visited he and his brother in October. After the accident, she tried to apply for another Visa to visit him in the hospital and was denied.
Humberto is survived by his brother, a son and his parents.
It will mean a great deal to his family if we can help them find closure. Thank you for you help.
