My son, James, recently, endured, and miraculously survived, several lethal arrhythmia episodes.  It began with dangerously fast ventricular tachycardia of 230+ beats, per minute, randomly, for several days, before he was admitted into The Oregon Health and Science University, in Portland, five hours from his home, in Ashland, Oregon.  Sadly,  he has been diagnosed with Giant Cell Myocarditis, a rare (as in one in a million rare) and very serious autoimmune (body attacking itself) condition of his heart. There is no cure.

Upon entering OHSU, Triage, there, claimed to have never have seen the likes of the chaos in his heart.  For this alone, I will be eternally grateful, that he somehow, (they say his tremendously strong physical conditioning) made it through.

GCM, which is difficult to treat, is characterized by inflammation which causes severely irregular heartbeats.  After a lengthy hospital stay and a multitude of tests and scans, and the attention of an entire team of doctors, he had a defibrillator implanted, subcutaneously.  He is on a cocktail of powerful medications, with a host of unpleasant side effects, and while his heart rate has become regular, he is severely immune-compromised, and must avoid the public.

For the next unknown period of time, my son will be needing to make many trips, to Portland, and possibly to the Mayo Clinic.  Jimmy, and his wife, Jennifer, who have four beautiful children, will be spending most, if not all, of their time tending to his condition. There will be childcare, trip expenses, tests and expensive medicines not covered by their insurance.  Their home must be extensively cleaned, and professionally abated of possible mold.  He is on a costly, specialized diet and supplement plan.  So...

Many of you have, so lovingly, asked what else you can do, beside pray.  I have started this GoFundMe account, today.  When I first heard of it I never imagined I'd be a subscriber.  If you'd care to, you can donate, here, to what I am sure will be a long, and financially difficult journey, for my son's family.  If not, thank you for all your love and healing thoughts.  Please keep them coming.   Susan
