On Halloween night, just over 2 months shy of his 20th birthday, our beloved Julian Garcia was driving home in Odessa, Texas when he was involved in a catastrophic car accident. As a result of the accident, Julian suffered severe life-threatening head trauma that resulted in traumatic brain injury. Julian spent more than 2 weeks in the ICU and had 2 emergency neurosurgical procedures to relieve swelling and pressure on his brain. Severe traumatic brain injuries are among the most serious and unpredictable of all head injuries, and can have wide-ranging physical and psychological effects – sometimes lifelong.
To provide Julian with the best chance of recovery, he has been moved to the Texas Neuro Rehabilitation Center in Austin, TX (https://texasneurorehab.com/ ). Julian’s parents, sisters, and close family remain in Odessa, TX and face the harsh reality of being 6 hours away from their loved one.
We are all devastated. In Julian’s short 19 years, he has touched so many lives with his comedic, intelligent, sarcastic, witty, and artistic personality. He is missed and loved by so many of us who cannot be with him, and we want nothing more than to facilitate his recovery and to support his family in any way we can.
At the moment, this accident is incomprehensible, as we recognize Julian has a long road of recovery ahead of him. Words cannot describe what Julian and his parents, siblings, grandparents, and extended family are going through at this time.
We humbly ask that you consider a donation to the Julian Garcia Recovery Fund (JGRF). Every dollar raised will go directly to Julian and his immediate family to support the ongoing costs of his medical and neuro rehabilitation needs, and the costs associated with his family’s transportation and hotel stays to be with him and support his recovery.
