As we head into the two year milestone from Gary's cancer surgery, it's such a blessing to come together as a family to support the amazing work of Dr. Sardi (the doctor God used to save his life).
On Friday, September 15, Team Young will be playing in a golf outing to help raise funds for Partners For Cancer Care and Prevention (PFCCAP). This organization represents the passion and committment of Dr. Sardi to eliminate the impact cancer is having in underserved cities and countries. PFCCAP is building a model of prevention, treatment and care that has caught the attention of the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Kolman Foundation as the model is being perfected in Cali, Colombia.
On Sunday, September 17, our Team will participate in the 8th Annual “Heat It To Beat It” Walk that was launched eight years ago to raise awareness and money to advance the research for the unique surgery and treatment of a this rare form of cancer - peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy ( HIPEC) is a highly effective, concentrated, heated chemotherapy that is delivered directly to cancer cells in the abdomen. The Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy, in Baltimore MD, is one of only a handful of medical institutions in the country that offer this treatment and is dedicating extensive research to the use of HIPEC in the fight against rare forms of cancer within the abdomen as well as treating ovarian cancer. The walk is the main vehicle to raise awareness and the necessary funds to continue the research that brings so many this life saving treatment.
On September 23rd, Gary will be representing Team Young as he continues the support of PFCCAP by joining Dr. Sardi on a medical mission trip to Colombia.
We are confident that God will use these three events to change the lives of many....including our family. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by September 20th, so we can donate to both organizations during these important fundraising events.
