Help Make Colin's Miracle Happen

The week of Thanksgiving 2014 my brother Colin Waddick was diagnosed with Leukemia. He is a father of two beautiful little girls Addison (4) and Bailey (1). He is a devoted husband to his wife Laura. Colin (30) is the 2nd son of Michael & Cathy Waddick and he has four brothers. They are Braden (wife: Diana), Austin (me), Aaron, and Jordan.
He has CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) along with a few Chromosome Abnormalities which only further complicates his case. Leukemia attacks a person’s bone marrow and produces abnormal WBCs (White Blood Cells), in addition to platelet counts. He was put on a chemo pill to help stop the progression of the Cancer.
Just before Super bowl weekend Colin’s Doctor gave him more bad news. There were complications including one more Chromosome Abnormality they hadn’t talked on yet. She said his chances for a successful transplant had dropped more, and he is a very high risk patient. The small Hope she gave was, there is more blood work to be done, and a checkup in early February would tell more about how his Cancer and treatments are going. Due to this unique case, two of the top Oncologists in the country were consulted including the doctor that invented the chemo pill Colin is on.
As the blood work results came in, doctors were shocked. His CML numbers had decreased a lot. All of his abnormalities had decreased greatly, and the worst one wasn’t even showing in their lab results. The doctors were simply amazed to see these results! The chemo pill should’ve had little to no effect on the abnormalities, but they were mostly gone. This could be a Miracle. The doctors said Colin should proceed to transplant as soon as possible to avoid relapse.
Jordan is Colin’s youngest brother, and he turned out to be what they call a perfect match for a Bone Marrow and Stem Cell donor based off of DNA testing. Today (Mar. 9) Jordan has completed his stem cell donation at the U of Iowa Hospital as of a few hours ago. Colin is there as well and has gone through four days of intense chemotherapy in preparation for his stem cell transplant tomorrow, March 10th. Colin will be hospitalized the rest of the month. Recovery time for transplant patients varies from a few months, to several years.

The road to recovery is in sight but he’s not there yet. Colin has asked for nothing more than Prayer, Love, and Support. His wife and family are holding Strong and we Believe in him. Colin’s medical expenses will continue to pile in over the next several months, and possibly years. Colin is not the type of person to ask anyone for financial support.
That is why I’m asking for him. On behalf of family and friends, we want to hold his hands up at a time where he may not be able to himself. We want to be the Light at the end of a long, dark, and exhausting tunnel. With your help, we can bring the warmth and comfort of this Light to Colin and his girls.
