Team Amalie

Meet Amalie. She was 6 years old when she was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She went through 2 1/2 years of treatment. When she successfully completed her treatments, she quickly began living a very full life! She signed up and participated in every sport & activity she could to make up for all the time she lost! At the age of 14, Amalie was in the best shape of her life. Amalie had been training for and competing in pole vaulting competitions all over the country for two years. Less than 2 months after competing in the 2014 AAU Junior Olympic Games, she collapsed at a volleyball game. Her parents rushed her to the hospital where they were told that Amalie's Cancer had returned. Amalie was flown by air ambulance to St Jude in Memphis, TN on September 24, 2014 to begin treatment and returned home on November 7th to surprise her family and friends that she would continue her treatment at Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth. Amalie has 18 months of chemotherapy & treatment left on her protocol. The long term medical and travel expenses are overwhelming. The family is very appreciative of the many generous donations that have helped with these expenses over the last 5 months.

Amalie has made it through the most difficult phase of her treatment and is feeling well. She has been given the green light to start pole vault training to prepare for the upcoming Track & Field season. She is determined to get back into shape and compete even while on treatment. She wants to take this as far as she can go this year! It will be amazing to see! There are many expenses involved in her training and competitions. With the added medical expenses, we definitely need help to make this dream of hers a reality.
