Dear friends, Community peers and future supporters;
I am writing you because I have a really bad injury that has affected many areas of my life and I need major help. On April 11th, I tore my Achilles tendon and I won’t be able to walk or run normal for almost 6 to 10 months. Unfortunately, I was misdiagnosed when I first visited a hospital delaying the appropriate care I needed 2 months. I was in a great deal of pain for 3 weeks and when I went to go see my Primary Care Doctor, they discovered that I completely snapped my Achilles tendon with a 6-centimeter space. My injury set me back from pursing a Firefighter and Police officer career, and sadly with this type of injury, I don’t know if this will happen anytime soon or ever. I’m a Rhode Island College student and was working part time as a Youth Counselor at Seven Hills. Because I was a part time employee I couldn’t get any of the benefits to financially support me during this time of recovery.
Two months later, on June 9th 2017, I had surgery at Southern New England Surgery Center in Attleboro, Massachusetts. I will not be able to do things that I normally do for some time, because I’m in a cast for 6 to 8 weeks, then a walking boot for another few months, and then physical therapy. I have a wheelchair coming soon to help me get around until the cast comes off. I’ve been mentally and physical drained since the initial injury.
In addition to all of this I am in need financially and am seeking help from the community. The money will go towards home necessities such as rent, utilities, nursing care, food supplies, transportation, and visits to a physical therapist to have special treatments, like stretching and flexibility exercises. These treatments are necessary for my tendon to heal without shortening and causing long-term pain. My financial goal is to raise 10,000 as I rest mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. If you are in a position to give a donation for my cause I would be forever grateful. You can give a gift of 1000,500,250,100,50 or some other amount. Feel free to give cash, check or account transfer . Checks can be written out to Taris Araujo and my gofundme campaign link is https://www.gofundme.com/TarisAraujo
Please feel free to call for any other questions at (401-696-0891) and thank you so much for your support during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Taris Araujo
