Thurston Lee III NHLBI Memorial
Donation protected
Thurston Lee III passed away much too early due to coronary artery disease. Heart disease is the number one cause of death among African Americans. The rates of heart disease and high blood pressure are 8 to 15 percent higher in African Americans than in other groups. Heart health information and information on access to care are greatly needed in African American communities. Please join me in fighting this problem!
ALL FUNDS DONATED TO THE THURSTON LEE III MEMORIAL FUND ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE AND WILL BE USED TO SUPPORT The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) Community Health Worker Health Disparities Initiative.
The Community Health Worker Health (CHW) Disparities Initiative aims to address health disparities by partnering with organizations in underserved and minority communities.
(CHWs) and other health educators teach the members of our communities about heart health and strategies to make heart-healthy behavior changes. Development
of health education and awareness programs will effect positive change in public health. These initiatives will focus on implementing national programs to help lower the risk for and consequences of heart, lung, blood, and sleep diseases and disorders so that others can live longer, fuller lives.
