Susan Emily Zielbauer's Cancer Fund

Susan Emily Tentschert Zielbauer has overcome many obstacles in her life with each one making her stronger. I have always considered Susan to be like a second mother to me, her only daughter has been my best friend since the early 90’s. Like most of us Susan must once again overcome yet another obstacle, this one proving to be most challenging.

Being a Good Samaritan Susan followed a shoplifter out of her place of employment with intentions of getting the license plate number of the offender. According to company policy this is against the rules. After nearly ten years of services she was terminated on January 15th 2015.

Just days before being let go, and months of being sick, Susan learned she may have cancer. A huge mass in her neck that was once a lymph node would have to be surgically removed. This mass would then have to be examined to determine what type of cancer it is

Sadly, shortly after this diagnoses following her termination Susan’s medical insurance was canceled. This delayed the surgery prolonging the growth of this deadly disease inside her. It has become clear that time is not on her side. She now fights for her life.

Seeking help from the American Cancer Society, Susan was able have this very important surgery. Thankful for the support she has already received this is just the beginning as the struggle continues. Susan has since been diagnosed with Head and Neck Cancer. Uninsured and unemployed she will have to seek further financial assistance from another source to obtain treatment necessary for survival.

After weeks of waiting and additional testing it has been discovered that Susan has a tumor on her Larynx, known to us as the Voice Box. Additional testing and scans and are needed to determine if the cancer has spread. Doctors have recommended that she start chemotherapy immediately.

With follow-up appointments made and chemotherapy scheduled, she was optimistically determined to fight this. Blindsided again she has been bombarded with yet another obstacle. Currently at this time Susan’s State Funded Medical Insurance has been denied, leaving her uninsured once again. Because of this she has been forced to cancel all appointment including chemotherapy.

Susan continues to go untreated for this deadly disease discovered January of 2015. With the possibility of this killer illness spreading throughout her body, there is still no treatment plan in place. As Susan nervously waits for insurance approval, she has been told it could take up to another additional forty-five days to process. It has been almost 2 months since her life changing diagnosis. The longer she waits the greater the chance the cancer will spread.

The toll this ordeal has taken on her is devastating. The toll it has taken on her daughter Cassie, son Nikolaus and young grandson Niki is unimaginable. Having to watch them go through this agonizing ordeal is heartbreaking. Without treatment she has very little chance of survival.

As bills continue to pile up Susan is unemployed and uninsured. Feeling overwhelmed she is in great need of financial donations, love, prayers and support from her community. I am asking that we work together and lend a hand. I pray that we can be of aid to her. Let us come together so she can begin treatment now without further delay. If given the chance she would do the same for you. Thank you for your help. Cancer sucks!
