My Mom Needs Surgery
My parents are the hardest working, most honest people I have ever known. I love them very much. Due to tragedy in our family, they have basically had to start over financially in the last few years and are really struggling, when they should be nearing retirement.
This page is
to raise money for my Mom, Yvonne Bain. We discovered a few months ago that she has an uncommon disease called hyperparathyroidism that has been making her very sick.
Hyperparathyroidism
is when one (or more) of the four parathyroid glands grows into a tumor and
constantly overproduces parathyroid hormone. This excess hormone steals the
calcium from your bones and puts it into your bloodstream, causing high calcium
in your organs and high blood pressure which leads to a slew of health
problems. (osteoporosis, cancer, organ failure, headaches, stroke, and on and
on). We found out that this tumor(s) has been causing damage to her body for
the probably last 5 years or so and has made her increasingly sick. This
disease can KILL YOU. It CAN NOT BE TREATED ANY OTHER WAY BESIDES SURGERY.
Mom did A LOT of research into
surgeons, her insurance and what her options are, and decided that The Norman
Parathyroid Center in Tampa FL is the best decision she can make for her
health. They perform a minimally invasive surgery and check all four glands.
They have a 99.8% cure rate, and after the surgery, patients experience relief
from almost all symptoms; the calcium level goes to normal WITHIN HOURS after
surgery! This is ALL this Center does and are the best at it in the world!
(Note: There was a closer surgeon in New York that she considered due to cost
and insurance, however they perform a much more invasive and higher risk
surgery; they do not check all 4 glands, so it may be necessary to have the
surgery repeated; and do not have the same cure rate as the Norman Center).
Dr
Norman himself says: "There is no other disease that is so easily cured which has
such a tremendous impact on a patient's health and their quality of life"
After
a $3000 deductible, her insurance will pay for the hospital (anesthesiologist,
radiologist, pathologist). The insurance will not cover the surgeons. The out
of pocket cost for the surgery will be $4425 (surgeons, consult fees,
file/data assembly, operating room staff). My dad will be going with her, and
their approximate travel expenses is between $1600-$2500 (airfare, car rental,
hotel, food, gas).
The total expense for the trip and the surgery will be between $9,000-$10,000.
Please
make a donation! My family and I would be lost without my mom. This is
something that can be fixed- she shouldn't stay sick simply because they can't
afford it!! If we all pull together, that won't have to be the case! I am
asking for donations of $50 or greater to reach our goal; however EVERY LITTLE
BIT HELPS!! Anything you can give! The sooner she can get this surgery, the sooner
damage will stop being done to her body. I miss my mom being happy and healthy-
due to the high calcium in her blood, she has sever high blood pressure that
isn't responding well to medication. She has headaches and dizzy spells all the
time and a prime candidate for a heart attack or stroke at any time. This is
scary stuff. I don't want to lose my mom, especially when there is a cure! What
good is money if we can't use it to help someone?
Please feel free to check out the website for The

Thank-you from the bottom of my heart- for your time, for your donations, and for caring.... It really means the world to me and my family. Please share this page, again and again! Let's get her better!!
