I've created this Go Fund Me to help my friends, Gerry and Christa Farrell through a very difficult time.
At 2am on June 21st, Gerry suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where they successfully performed a minimally invasive procedure that saved his life.
Many of you have been following along on the facebook page where we have been updating his status daily and organizing ways to support the family by providing childcare, a meal, or pet care. So many of you have been able to offer your assistance in some way. All of your kind gestures have been such a blessing to the Farrells. Words will never be enough to express their gratitude for your generosity and concern. Because of all of your support, Christa has been able to place much of her focus on Gerrys recovery and care.
Now that Gerry is no longer considered 'critical' and he has begun an in-patient rehabilitation program, it feels like an approprite time to welcome financial support for the family.
The reality is Gerry spent fourteen days in the neuro ICU. Thats fourteen days of tests, surgeries, procedures, drips, oxygen, evaluations, physical therapy, medications, and more. Fourteen days in a unit where nurses checked on him every twenty minutes. His in-patient stay at Kessler has just begun with no discharge date on the horizon. Recovery from this kind of injury can take weeks, months or even years. The impending expenses from this kind of life event are absolutely suffocating to contemplate. For that reason, I've opened this new avenue of support for our friends as they wrestle with new stresses on top of the ones they are still learning to manage.
Its not easy to request or accept financial support. Your prayers and love have ALWAYS been paramount....but if you find yourself in a position to help financially, I ask that you do so with the knowledge that you are not just lifting the burden of an overwhelming debt....but that your kind gesture also lifts their hearts, renews their hope and helps them stay focused on bringing Gerry home. Every cent received will be used to pay down invoices from the hospital.
