Kick Cancers Butt!!

People who know me and my family, know that my mom is our rock. She’s gone through so so so much, and has always remained strong for us. She’s a mother of four, grandmother of three. She’s been our blanket when we’re cold, our medicine when we’re sick, our comfort when we’re scared. She is our everything. Our family has always been her first priority above anything else. Every single step in all of our lives, she has been right by our side guiding us all. Every football game, every track meet, every Ballet recital, every school concert she was there.

Our mom has been a nurse for 27years, she’s dedicated her life to her family and career and despite how crazy our lives have been, she found the determination and motivation to follow her dream and pursue her nurse practitioner degree. She’s been there without fail for us all and now it’s time for us as a family to be there for her.

Thursday night my mom lost the use of her right side and fell. Thinking she was having a stroke, she was taken to the ER, and there, was diagnosed with stage four adenocarcinoma (cancer) of the lung with multiple metastatic tumors in her brain and both left/right lung lobes.

We are completely devastated, lost, confused, and afraid. There weren’t any symptoms at all that would have suggested the possibility of cancer until this point.. This has all been so much for us to deal with, and has happened so fast.

I know I can speak for myself and my brothers when I say that I cannot stand the thought of losing my mom. The thought alone makes me ill. That may or may not be the case, only time will tell. But we are about to watch the warrior of this family endure whole brain radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

I’ve never been more terrified in my entire life, I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. For the time being I am the only support system that my two younger brothers have while our mom is in the hospital undergoing her treatments. She will be unable to work for in unknown amount of time. If anybody can donate, our family would be so thankful. If we can raise enough money even to get all the bills taken care of for one month it would take so much stress off of us. Otherwise, all funds will go towards any part of the cancer treatments that are not covered under her insurance.
