Our Background: On May 23, 2009 I married my best friend, my soul mate, my rock and the best title yet my husband and being married to him for these 5 years have been amazing and unforgettable and I could never see my life without him. Combined, we have 3 children: Jordan who is 10, Camryn who is 6 and Addison who is 4. Adam is a hard working family man, who will do anything that he needs to do to make sure that his family is provided for.
Adam's story: Recently, some of Adam's symptoms that we thought were related to acid reflux became worse in July 2014.  On September 5th he started seeing a GI doctor and this is when the first endoscopy was performed. We were told that there was an ulcer deep down in the esophagus and that the lining of the esophagus looked liked like Barretts Esophagus. Adam went in for a checkup on September 11th after speaking with the Dr he did not like Adam's symptoms so we went in for another scope on September 12th and shortly after this endoscopy he was being admitted into BJC. After being admitted, our world was turned upside down, at the age of 34, my husband was diagnosed with Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer (T3, N2, M1) on September 15, 2014. CANCER... that dreaded 6 letter word that you read about but never think you or someone you love will hear.
Getting a diagnosis of cancer is probably one of the most devastating things a person can experience. I can only imagine what a person would feel being in a bed or doctors office who hears the word CANCER and YOU in the same sentence. You read all the time about people telling you how to cope with cancer and what treatment options are, and the long road ahead of them and the pain that they will have to endure to fight this disease. But until you are that person going through it, the truth is you never will understand what is going on in their head or how they feel. Right now all I can do is be the rock for him like he has been for me all these years and always have my game face on and not break down in front of him.
Treatment Options: Adam is not a good surgical candidate because of how many lymph nodes that have been affected, so Chemotherapy and/or Radiation is the best way to try and attack this terrrible disease. We have put on our game face, and we are going to fight this disease like we have NEVER fought before so we are wearing our periwinkle and have put our boxing gloves on because we have a fight to win and we will not stop fighting.
How YOU can help: After treatments start, he will be unable to work, which for many years has paid the bills and supplied health insurance, and from that moment on I will need him to focus only on beating this. So in return, I have set up this fundraiser and am asking for help to support our family like he has supported us for the past years. We know this is going to be a long journey and with your support I will be able to be there for him every step of the way without worrying about which doctor we pay or which prescription will be filled. We would like to thank you all in advance for taking the time to read our story, donate to help with medical or for even just sharing this!
