Low literacy skills are a barrier to just about everything.

· More than 2.6 million adults in Florida (20% of our population) lack basic reading skills, cannot read to their children, or complete a job application
· 1 in 5 adults in Orange County cannot read the Orlando Sentinel
· Children of parents with low literacy skills have a 72% chance of being at the lowest skill level themselves
