Steve Newby's New Leg, New Life

Donation protected

As a good friend put it Steve Newby is that guy you want to know. He is a strong Christian, a loyal friend, and someone you can always count on. Now Steve needs our help. He needs a new leg - a prosthetic leg, and he needs money to pay his medical bills. Recently Steve's faith was tested, and where others might have faltered Steve demonstrated to the world his faith and resolve. Here is the story if you don't know it:

In October 2016 Steve experienced the failure of the main artery behind his left knee (partially as a result of having been a type 1 diabetic since 1986). His left leg was numb and felt cool to the touch, and the pain was terrible. At the initial emergency room he went to, he was directed to see a chiropractor for what was diagnosed as ‘sciatica.’ Nothing more was said.

He spent the next four weeks seeing a chiropractor, but the swelling in the leg, its coolness to the touch, and the pain continued to intensify. In mid-November he sought additional help at another E.R. where they determined that he had zero blood flow in the veins and arteries below his left knee. They immediately referred him to a vascular surgeon in the Houston Medical Center hospital who admitted Steve that same day. After performing an angiogram, they determined that his leg had to be amputated.

Steve has a great love for the LORD, for people, and for children. He has a wonderful sense of humor, is highly intelligent, artistically-talented, and has a zest for life and for the lives of others. He continues to teach the Bible at his church (for over five years now) and really pours himself into it. Steve has not missed a beat since the amputation, staying involved in church activities, teaching, and seeking employment. He knows God is faithful, and he continues to serve Him and others as he waits for the LORD to move on his behalf.

At the time of the arterial failure he was both unemployed and uninsured. His heart’s desire is to be fitted for a prosthetic limb and to return to full time employment. He knows God is faithful and he continues to serve him and others as he waits for the LORD to move on his behalf.

Steve was evaluated as a great candidate for a prosthesis and would love to get back on his feet as soon as possible.

Friends and family are praying that Steve receive a prosthetic leg. In the past few months, many people have suggested that a ‘Go Fund Me’ account be set up in his name to begin raising the funds necessary to get Steve the leg he needs and to start paying the medical bills. Thank you for your prayerful consideration. Please help us as you are led. To God be the Glory!
