Love for Sterling!

Donation protected
It’s been a scary and emotional time.

In December, Sterling developed an abscess between his sinuses and brain. Because the symptoms were so similar, everyone thought it was the flu going around SoCal. After weeks of no improvement, they discovered the abscess via MRI and needed to operate immediately.

The brain has a protective dual- layer membrane around it called the Dura (Latin for “hard mother”), kind of like a football skin.

The original abscess was between the dura and skull.
They drained it and gave him weeks of antibiotics for his specific bacteria. Sterling was feeling better and ready to get back to a normal life. Monday was the day for his final MRI and removal of his tubes.

Instead, what the doctors found from the MRI was an even larger abscess that appeared to be past the dura and into the brain. Again they needed to operate immediately, but this time it was much more dangerous with possible effects on his brain and eyesight.

This is where your prayers and God’s grace came in. We appreciate you so very much that you would stop what you are doing and lift up Sterling to our Lord. You are such a blessing in our lives.

The neurosurgeons said what they found in Sterling was something they’ve never seen before – the abscess was between the layers of the dura, one of which was protecting his brain from it. This was really great news and we have you and God to thank for it.

Sterling will be in the ICU for another week while they give him antibiotics and monitor him with more MRI’s. We ask for your continued prayers during his recovery.

While he recovers many of you have continually asked how you can support his family. We appreciate your kindness, prayers and generosity so very much.

We thought this would be a great way to continue to support Sterling and his family as they focus on his recovery and healing.

Thank you so much for being such an amazing group of friends, family, classmates and just overall supporters of Sterling's healing!

Blessings,
