Every cent counts! No matter what you are able to donate, it will go a long way.  No amount is too small.  Thanks for your consideration!

About the Camp

St. Brigid’s Summer Camp was established in 1972 by Sister Eleanor Hennessey as well as many volunteer teachers, parishioners and community members from the Lowertown neighbourhood in Ottawa. The camp’s initial goal was to provide a summer vacation facility to the children of Lowertown who wouldn’t normally be able to go on vacation and experience a summer camp out of the city .

While our goal has remained largely the same, over the years St. Brigid’s Summer Camp has grown significantly. Today, St. Brigid’s Summer Camp is a non-denominational summer camp which serves youth aged 8 to 14 from all across the National Capital region. Over one thousand (1000) Boys and Girls attend five-day sessions throughout July and August at our facility located just north of Ottawa in Low, Quebec. In addition, over fifteen hundred (1500) children attend camp as part of a school field trip each summer in the months of May and June.

Over the years our Board of Directors has worked hard to maintain our policy that no child should be denied a camping experience because of financial circumstances. We are proud to say that to date no child has ever been denied a camping experience with STB because of financial challenges. The camp runs solely on donations made by families, schools and people in our community.

Located on beautiful Lake Manitou, STB is a waterfront based camp with traditional camping activities including swimming, canoeing, cooperative games, arts and crafts, and of course, camp fire. Our program has no particular specialization and focuses on fun, participation and non-competitive recreational games and sports. As a registered charity, which is required to fundraise a large portion of our operating costs, we operate with limited resources and equipment. Significant equipment and infrastructure replacements are a challenging endeavor for the camp and require dedicated fundraising and support from our community.

What We Need & What You Get

Hennessy Hall, our dining hall, has just passed it’s 20th anniversary. It was opened in 1994 and named after one of our founders Sister Eleanor Hennessey. With time comes the need for upkeep and maintenance. Currently, over half of our windows do not open and/or have split casing/wood frames. This is an expensive project and we are in need of completing this project now.

If you donate, you will be helping over a thousand children experience a better summer at camp. For $250 we will put your name on a name plate above a window. You are essentially “adopting” a window. Any donations less than that, but above $50 will be put on a plaque in the dining hall.

Anyone looking for a bigger project, can sponsor a cabin for $500. For that amount, much needed renovations will occur. Of course, your name will be put above the door of that cabin as your “adopted” cabin.

The Impact

Every cent that is “donated” to this camp goes right back into its operation. We must fundraise for every piece of sports equipment or construction material we buy. Your donation can go an extremely long way!
