Mountain Top Strings Europe Tour 2013
Hello family and friends,
I am excited to share about an amazing opportunity I will be
a part of next summer.
As many of you know, I have been playing the cello for six
years since fifth grade. I have been a part of the Steve G. Mihaylo Strings
Program here in Big Bear, a program that has distinguished itself over the
years. Most recently our high school group, of which I am a member, earned a
first place award at the Forum Invitational Music Festival in Fullerton,
California. At the same festival our middle school group earned a second place
award. The festival invites participating groups from all over California, as
well as some from Nevada and Arizona. We won performing "Sakura, Sakura,"
"Boulevard of Broken Dreams," and the Bach double-concerto for violin, first
movement. The "Bach Double," as it is known, features a cello ostinato that is
considered extremely challenging. I was the lone cellist playing that part. It
was not easy, but I tackled it and conquered it. Needless to say, my experience
with the string program has been very exciting and rewarding.
Our director, Sharon Rizzo has been dreaming of taking a
group of students on a tour of Europe for many years.
Well, that dream is coming true. I am part of a group of
middle and high school strings students from Big Bear and Arrowhead, California
who will be taking a 12-day musical performance tour of Italy and Austria in
the summer of 2013. We will be performing in Cremona, Italy, and Salzburg and
Vienna, Austria. Our tour is being coordinated through Casterbridge Tours (www.casterbridgetours.com).
Here is where you come in. The entire tour (including air
fare, lodging, two meals a day, ground transportation, and all other fees) comes
to about $4,000. My parents and I have already deposited $500 toward the cost
of the tour and they are planning on contributing more each month. I am asking
for help from you to help cover the remaining amount. The due date is January
2013.
Please consider helping me out by contributing through this site
- www.gofundme.com/SpencerEurope2013.
Contributions to my trip are NOT tax deductible. You may also mail checks payable
to me at the address below. I have set up a special saving account for my Europe
trip and the money will be deposited there.
I will update you on the progress of my fund raising and of
course will let you know how the trip goes and report on the wonderful things I
experience because of your generous support.
Thank you for your help,
Spencer Adams
