Soren Memorial Fund for Signe

Donation protected
Soren Peterson was a unique, talented and deeply sensitive human. He was a musically beautiful blend of his mother Lisa's stunning creativity and kindness and his father Drew's exquisite sense of design and patient craft. He adored his little sister Signe, whose artful innovations inspired him and his steadfast belief that she would someday change the world.

Soren spent much of his life in a curious state of discovery: how does this object work and can I fix it or make it do something new? As he matured, he sought to build systems of communication through technology that could serve our society. He was a visionary and ahead of his time. He skipped 6th grade and finished high school at a young age. From there, he progressed quickly to meet his dream of becoming a software engineer. His ability to see a goal and achieve it, inspired him to seek out ways to help others follow their dreams.

On Sept. 15, at the tender age of 21, Soren's tragic death has left so many of us weeping from the loss of such a special young man who had so much life ahead of him. But our grief pales in comparison to the life-transforming journey left to his dear sister and parents.

Each member of the Peterson family is an artist. Their collective creativity embraces song, color, whimsy and wood. Soren was a masterful guitarist and singer, who humbly preferred to play while in the company of his family and friends. Music was core to his ability to express himself. He was proud and supportive of his sister Signe’s profound and expansive artistic capacity and encouraged her to follow her dream of becoming an artist.

It is Lisa and Drew’s wish that the Soren Memorial Fund be a gift to Signe as a way to support and encourage her to express herself through her work, to follow her dreams and to never give up. All gifts will go toward Signe’s educational fund in the arts.
