Social Justice Season
Donation protected
My NYC public high school in the Bronx--Fordham High School for the Arts-- is launching its social justice themed season. First up: a virtual production of TWILIGHT LOS ANGELES: 1992 with students' artistic responses. And in the Spring, the NYC Premier of RANKED a brilliant new musical based on the recent college admission scandal. Our students are passionate, talented artists. They take drama and/or technical theatre every day for four years alongside a challenging course load of core content, AP and Syracuse University Project Advance classes. We have a 97% graduation rate and our students attend both liberal arts colleges and conservatories. We are a Title 1 school.
This year in NYC system is unlike no other. The school's arts budget has been decimated and there is very little money for the arts programs that we have taken such pride in. Royalties will add up to $1700 and we are asking for an additional $300 to mail home green fabric that the students can use as green screens for their virtual performances.
We need the funds as soon by end of October. We are so eager to offer our students the excellent arts programs they have received since starting at our school, and we would be over the moon if you could help us with this amazing opportunity for our students.
