A Life Truly Lived!
- Helping the Widow's Son with Final Funeral Expenses

David Smith, the father of MichaelDavid Smith, was a man who grabbed life by the horns, held it tight, and then shook it further until there was no more to give.  He was a man of action.  One of his greatest strengths was his knack to build and create with his hands.  Whether it be movie cars for the film industry or rebuilding other creative machines, he was a solid and powerful force.  His younger years included stories of having the strength of an ox and the ability to toss a car's engine block across a room to show a car who was in charge.  He grew up surrounded with family members either in the military  or within the Los Angeles Police Department.  Civic duty and pride were strong within him.

In January of 2016, his health took a turn for the worse.  Over the next three months, he was regularly in and out of the hospital as doctors worked to stabilize his health.  It turns out his kidneys had failed...  Only 20% of one remained partially useful.  This would lead to weekly dialysis treatments 2-3 times a week for the rest of his life.

On July 17, 2017, David had a massive heart attack.  After over 17 minutes of CPR, the paramedics were able to stabilize him for transport to the hospital.  Over the next 3 months, he remained mostly unconscious except for slight moments of blinking eyes when he heard his wife's voice during her many visits.

On Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at around 11:30am, David breathed his last breath and fell into the final sleep.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

MichaelDavid Smith, the youngest son,  is now the partriarch of the immediate family.  He is caregiver to his mother who is wheelchair bound and who is currently is fighting diabetes.  He is also custodian and legal guardian to his older brother who has Noonan's syndrome.

After the last two years and months of hospital visits, there are simply no funds to cover any final expenses for Michael's father, David.

The following funds are needed to cover final expenses:
7k Burial Plot at Valhalla (Approx)
6k Funeral Costs (Approx)
3k Miscellaneous
16k Total

The immediate family network is fully tapped out and needs your help to lay David to his rest. We were successfully able to lock in a lower rate by getting a pre-burial contract when David initially got sick.  Any amount from $20 to the full amount helps.

(Edited - Funds have now been raised to lay David to rest) Ideally, we are working to lay David to rest before the holidays are in full swing.

Chris Lebedeff will be helping coordinate the fund raising and final expenses to allow Michael to focus on his mother and brother.  Contact info is available below.

Please take a moment to donate and spread the word to help Mike and his family out.
