Dearest friends!
I have been accepted to the 2018 Home School program in Hudson New York this coming August! You can read all about the program here.
Basically it is a week long set of workshops and readings with a really amazing faculty of writers (Eileen Myles, Frank Wilderson III, CAConrad, Myung Mi Kim, etc.) and about 80 other students from all over the United States. It's maybe like a summer camp for poetry adults?
I'm really honored and excited to have the opportunity to work with such amazing artists that I love and respect and possibly make some new friends in the poetry community. The problem (as it always is) is...money.
The tuition is $1175 along with the cost of plane ticket (about $500 round trip) and a room to stay in (about $500) while I am out there. This is a lot of money when you have the meager wage of a humble bookseller like I do. I am trying to raise this money in the next month or so.
To this end I am asking anyone who has the resources to help me if they can. I feel a little uncomfortable doing this but there really isn't any other way for me to make this money.
I am so so so grateful for whatever you can contribute and appreciate you for taking me, and my work, seriously enough to help me with this opportunity. It will hopefully improve my writing and at the very least allow me to encounter some new voices, which always feeds me artistically.
