Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. She underwent chemotherapy treatments. After five (5) years of battling breast cancer; and being cancer free for three (3) years, the cancer has returned, but in another location.
Recently, Sharon has been suffering with stomach pain, and diarrhea, then the color of her skin and eyes turned yellow (jaundice). To make matters worse, nausea and vomiting caused her to lose a lot of weight rapidly, and she became weak. Sharon was rushed to the Emergency Room where she was admitted. After undergoing tests, she heard the dreaded words "Pancreatic Cancer." During the tests it was also discovered that her organs were touching each other and corrective measures were undertaken by her doctors. As you can imagine, Sharon, her son, her family, and her friends were and still are devastated with this diagnosis of pancreatic cancer at such a young age.
Now comes the stressful part. Sharon has her hands full in dealing with medical tests, doctors, and the dreaded news that her insurance carriers do not cover certain tests and medications. Her out-of-pocket expenses are mounting. She has to come up with $3,000 before the doctor will start chemotherapy and radiation, which she needs desperately. Sharon still owes medical bills for co-pays for 2017. She will have to pay over $7,000.00 deductible again for 2018 and every year after for continued treatments. Of course, these expenses will continue to mount and mount. Sharon is a single woman without any other financial help. To this end, the family is trying to help, but the bills are mounting rapidly (and uncontrollably), and we all feel like "a drowning man or woman clutching at a straw."
Sharon's family has started this "Go Fund Me" campaign to ask all you kind-hearted people who are reading Sharon's story to help alleviate even a little bit of her financial stress so that she can focus on treatment and healing. Could you please answer our plea and give whatever you can afford to help Sharon in her time of need? The money donated will be used to pay her medical expenses, not covered by insurance and to help with living expenses during the time that she cannot work.
Please keep Sharon in your thoughts and prayers, and thank you for your kind support. Your thoughts, prayers, and whatever financial support you can afford to give will be sincerely appreciated. As it is said, "whatever is given out of the goodness of your heart will come back to you two-fold."
Thank you all for taking the time to read our plea, and for supporting this worthy cause. Sharon thanks you from the bottom of her heart for your kindness.
