Shakespeare in the Park: A Benefit for BHS Drama
Like most theaters in the world, the BHS Drama Club uses the ticket sales from their big show each year to pay for the costs of -- costumes, sets, props, the rights to the show (which are expensive!), etc. And over the years, they've put on some spectacular shows! But what do you do when you've spent the money for your upcoming show, and suddenly the world shuts down for a while? You can't sell tickets. You can't make back the money you've lost. You can't buy the rights to next year's show.
But BHS Drama is not just a theater. It is where our brightest young theatre artists go to learn, practice, and become inspired. Without a nest-egg to get the ball rolling on their next show, the next generation of students will not be able to see -- to experience -- the transformative power of collaborative, live performance.
That's where we come in.
My name is Quinn and I'm a local theatre artist. I put together a troupe made up of 1 BHS teacher, 2 former BHS students, and some wildly passionate performers, and we've crafted our own theater production in order to fundraise for BHS Theater! With an updated version of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and with the help of Burlington City Arts, we want to share FREE theater with you, our community. And if you connect with what you see, if it moves you, if you think it's valuable -- we would love to see you share the love. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the BHS Drama Club.
All of us neighbors get a fun, free show. The next generation of theatre artists get their chance at inspiration. And you get the chance to make it happen for them.
The way I see it? That's pretty win-win. But it won't be possible, without you.
