I am incredibly honored and excited to announce that I've accepted an offer from OperaMaya to perform this summer in their Apprentice Program. I will be singing "Quando m'en vo" from La Boheme by Puccini in evening recitals, sing as a part of the women's chorus for L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti and have been offered one of the leads in the debut of "Alamo," written by Timothy Noble.
OperaMaya takes place in the beautiful Mayan Riviera in Tulum, Mexico. Just south of Cancun, Tulum is an area filled with white, sandy beaches, lots of sun, and mayan ruins. My day will be filled with voice and acting lessons, coaching sessions, diction and language classes, masterclasses, rehearsals and nightly performances in professional venues. OperaMaya offers an impressive group of faculty members, almost all having careers in the most prestigious opera houses in the world; including the Met, Paris Opera, La Scala, and the Chicago Lyric. I will have the opportunity to work daily with these faculty members and make invaluable connections.
While I have been given a $1,000 scholarship, I am still responsible for the remaining $2,000 tuition fee, travel fees and spending money. I will be giving a Benefit Recital (a mid-May date is pending) to raise money for my trip but would also like to reach out to my family and friends here. (For those who are unable to make it to my recital, I would be happy to send you a recording of the performance.) Any help you could offer is greatly appreciated! And if you are unable to help, your love and support is greatly appreciated!
