Maleah has always been extremely driven when it comes to academics. She is always looking to be the best; from school, to speech and debate she has shown her ambition toward bettering herself, her future, and her community.
She first began to stand out when she qualified for the National History Day competition in Washington D.C. She then competed in the local and national Model UN for two years, and qualified twice for the national Speech and Debate tournament in extemporaneous speaking and Lincoln Douglas debate.
After ranking in the 97th percentile on her PSAT, colleges began to reach out to her. When she was contacted about the Politics, Law, and Economics camp being held at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, she knew it was the perfect opportunity to better her skills and ultimately help her reach her goal of becoming a Civil Rights lawyer. And WHAT an honor!
The program is extremely competitive with over 5, 500 students applying and an acceptance rate of only about 26%. Maleah's hard work and passion payed off and she was not only accepted but given a partial scholarship. Unfortunately, I do not have the means to cover the rest of tuition and air fare to New Heaven.
This is a once in a life time opportunity and a massive boost for Maleah's future, so that is why I am reaching out to all of you. This young woman has worked her tail off to get to where she is, and to lose out on an opportunity like this due to a lack of funds would be a travesty. Any and all help would be ENDLESSLY appreciated!
Her tuition is due by April 11th, and the plane ticket needs purchased as soon as possible.
