Hello, Everyone! My name is Bryan Wilson and I am seeking your generous help to attend the 2017 National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The conference will be held from September 26-30, 2017.

My passion for science and research was initially inspired by my mother. I grew up in a single-parent home and was fortunate to have a loving and strong mother who reinforced my dreams. She was the first person to expose me to science. In her efforts to motivate my science inquisitiveness, I remember receiving Christmas gifts in the form of a Smithsonian chemistry set and my first microscope. At that time, I did not fully understand her actions, but I would later come to realize that my mother was liberating me to a life of science. She gave me the confidence to believe in myself and assured me that it was okay to be different. More importantly, she assured me it was okay to love science.
The result of her actions made a profound impact and set into motion my professional aspirations. I discovered early in my career the importance of thinking differently and quickly developed a creative niche for combining business and life science applications. With a focus to enhance the pipeline advancement of improved biomedical therapeutics, products and services, I intentionally pursued dual Ph.D./M.B.A. degree training (c/o 2016) from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Business. This experience cultivated my deep expertise in biomedical research and business strategy, with a focus to facilitate collaborations, communication and marketing, business development and innovation within the pharmaceutical and life science industries.
The future of healthcare and life science rests upon the shoulders of individuals who are not afraid to take risks and who utilize integrated approaches to solve complex problems. I am one of those individuals and my ultimate goal is to bridge gaps in life science communication and understanding. Overall, my goal is to leverage my deep scientific expertise to enhance business strategies and drive the growth and profitability of life science, biotechnology and pharmaceutical organizations.
I am currently navigating the job market and pursuing a transition into a new career. Ultimately, I want to utilize my biomedical research and business development training and experience to tackle major world health problems. This is my key reason for wanting to attend the 2017 NBMBAA Conference. The conference will include a career exposition representing more than 300 of the nation’s top companies. Moreover, there will be informative panels, on-site interviews, networking sessions and professional development seminars.
My goal is to raise $2,500 to help cover the conference expenses. A breakdown of how your donation will be used is included below:
Conference dates: September 26 – 30, 2017 (5 days)
$600 – Conference Registration
$1,160 – Hotel and Lodging
$325 – Meals ($65/day) - $15 Breakfast; $20 Lunch; $30 Dinner
$215 – Flight Costs
$184 - 8% Go Fund Me Fee
Conference Total = $2,484 ($2,500 rounded)
