School Scholarships for the Children of Madagascar

Join the BASIS Independent McLean French Honor Society in supporting education in Madagascar! The Saint François Xavier School (SFX) of Fianarantsoa needs your help!

In 2022, Father Phil, a longtime friend of Madame Sèye, raised over $500,000 (through the Jesuit community in 7 countries) to rebuild his former middle school, The Saint François Xavier School, hoping to provide quality education to approximately 2,000 students, from pre-K to 12th grade, which gives these students the opportunity to take the BAC (a national exam similar to the SAT), which students need in order to be allowed into university.

Unfortunately, quality public education is not ubiquitous in Madagascar. The tuition for Saint François Xavier is only $100 USD per year; however, it is unaffordable for the majority of Madagascan families.

When Madame Sèye and the French Honor Society visit Madagascar for project week in June, they are aiming to deliver academic scholarships for these deserving children to go to school and attain their dreams of higher education and deliver themselves and their families from the cycle of poverty.
