Caring for Chloe

Donation protected

Chloe is now 20 months old. She has been diagnosed with LCH by biopsy (click here for more information on Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis). She had a port a cath placed on Tuesday, April 22nd and began her first round of chemotherapy on Wed, April 23rd. She has several lesions on her skull, one between her eyes that will require reconstructive surgery later (due to bone disintegration), and the largest is on her right pelvis. The pain that it causes prevents Chloe from walking like her twin, Sophia.  She also has lymph node involvment close to the stomach. The treatment for LCH is chemotherapy for at least 1 year, and is harder to treat in multisystem cases like Chloe's. The family is currently living with Heather's parents, to whom they pay rent. They make just enough to cover current bills, but the extra cost of testing, treatments and medications will be a huge burden to this family. Heather will need to take Chloe to Savannah, Ga once weekly for at least 12 weeks for chemotherapy, this is an hour and half away from home for her.  After that, she hopes the treatments will be every other week or every 3 weeks. She will need care for Sophia, gas money for her trips, medications for Chloe (she will be on several medications daily, and also pain medication), copayments for required testing, and food/diapers for the twins.  Her parents, with whom they live, will be leaving at the end of this month to return to Ohio in preparation to sell their home...this will leave Heather alone with the twins without immediate help.  We are asking you for help...in any form. Monetary donations are greatly needed and will be accepted with overwhelming gratitude. Even more so, we ask for daily prayers for this sweet baby and her family. Anyone that can offer help with childcare for Sophia, driving companions or meal preparation on the days she travels for chemotherapy please let us know!
