Santana Broke His Leg.. Please help

As most people may know, I am sometimes, actually often, referred to as the crazy cat lady in their lives. The one lady they can blame for why they now notice any cat related object being sold or worn somewhere. That being said, I recently got my newest fur-baby addition to my family in November of 2017, and now it’s January 2018, and my crazy kitten has injured his leg.

I was vacuuming my house, not knowing my kitten was in the closet, and as my vacuum came close to the closet, he sprinted out and got caught on a clothes hanger, that he didn’t manage to get loose from until he was halfway across the bedroom. He then sprinted (and I mean, man he was FAST), into the living room, paused as I ran after him, to look at me and race behind the couch. Because he had ran so quickly behind the couch and out of the bedroom, I resumed vacuuming thinking somehow he was okay, but when he didn’t leave the couch soon after cleaning (like he normally would), I went searching for him. When he finally came out he was only walking on three legs... and his poor back left leg was just hanging... anyways, after icing it for 15 minutes on the hour for the next three hours didn’t help, I took him to the emergency vet hospital around 9 p.m., assuming he couldn’t have sprained it.

After waiting 2 ish hours, I found out he has a left Salter-Harris fracture of the distal femur... after googling that and trying to talk to the vet between tears and sobs (as this is my baby/son here), she said it basically means he has a fracture in his growth plate/knee and it has to be fixed surgically with pins and needles. I wasn’t approved for care credit, which is all she could offer me when I told her I couldn’t afford the surgery, and now I’m desperately looking for anyone who could help me out with his medical bills. Any little bit would help me greatly, and I’m also sorry I’ve made this so long-winded. I already spent my rent money for his bills last night for x-rays, and pain meds, ($420 which is most of my income from bi-weekly paychecks unfortunately)and now need to pay $180 for a surgeon to look at the x-rays and confirm he needs surgery, and $2,000 give or take, for the actual procedure. This is a huge chunk of change to ask for, but if any of my friends, family or anyone else have something they can spare, I’d be forever grateful.

The vets I’ve talked to so far, who are more affordable, say all they could do for me is amputate... I REALLY don’t want to succumb to that last option, and I need him to heal as quickly as possible, and more importantly, to heal properly.

If you have managed to make it this far in my ramble, thank you for your time, patience, and please consider helping me so we can save Santana’s leg.
