Just before my brother Chris' birthday last August 23 2013, he received horrifying news that he had been so sick because of kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma).
Over Labor Day 2013, he endured hours of surgery to remove his left kidney and was released from UT Medical Center early. By late September, Chris was on his way as a cancer survivor!
After changing to only eating organics and exercising to give his body the strength it needed, he felt great! Unfortunatley, that did not last.
The New Year proved difficult when we found the cancer had spread to his liver. He now had four lesions on his liver. His doctors determined the best path of treatment was not more surgery or chemo but pills he took 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
During treatments, he had blood work every 3 weeks and countless test.
Chris is a small business owner with no insurance and the cost of surgery, treatments, CT scans, blood work, EKGs, etc are proving as challenging as surviving cancer. The last thing anyone needs fighting cancer needs is financial stress and the fear you won't survive because you don't have funds to pay for treatments.
