Loving Friend with ALS

Let me start off by saying THANK YOU for taking an interest in our friend’s battle of ALS (aka: Lou Gehrig's Disease). ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. We would like to introduce you to Sandra McKeown. Sandra is a wife and mother of two wonderful children. She and her family reside Bellville,TX. Sandra is a phenomenal person as she always puts other in front of herself and making sure they are fine. She is a faithful Christian, very upbeat, cheerful and optimistic in her daily life. She has battled and WON the fight against Breast Cancer; she is a 10 year survivor now. Life has given Sandra a new challenge. She is a fighter so she will continue to do what she can to live as close to normal as possible. Sandra has been a teacher for 24 year and she is currently a 7th grade teacher in Bellville. She loves what she does so the Muscular Dystrophy Association is also going to help her with making sure she has what she needs to continue to work as a teacher. With that being said she will still need financial help since they only pay a portion. The basic things in her daily life now have to change.

The funds will help with a mobile power chair to get around in, a modified bed, a power lift chair in the living room for her to sit in, a van conversion so her power chair can pull into the driver’s seat area and be able to drive the vehicle with her hands.

How we came to know the McKeown family is because our daughters play softball together. We have grown a strong friendship as the years passed. In closing we want to put Sandra 1st and help raise money for her and her family as she transitions her life living with ALS. As you know like any other diseases they are going to face multiple challenges and the one that’s the most challenging is in the day to day life transition.
