Sam and Jordan's Food Truck

Growing up in the suburbs of Boston, I learned to cook at a young age. My first start in hospitality and the food industry was  serving tables at a retirement community while in high school. During summers and school breaks while in college, I started working catering jobs. My second summer with the catering company, I worked at the Manchester Bath and Tennis Club kitchen where I learned the ins and outs of cooking in a commercial kitchen.

While attending West Virginia University,  I began working at the Waterfront Place Hotel (now Morgantown Marriott) as a valet attendant. This began my career in the hotel industry holding various titles such as Sales Coordinator, Sales Manager, and Front Office Manager.

The hotel and travel industry were hugely impacted by Covid. Within the first week of March, the hotel laid off 80% of hotel staff and everyone's schedule and job duties changed for the foreseeable future.

Courtney, my fiancée, was furloughed from her salon as a hairstylist due to Covid restrictions. We felt this was the perfect time for a change and we packed up our apartment in Woburn, Massachusetts and moved to Ashtabula, Ohio to be closer to family.

I quickly realized this was the opportunity I needed to fulfill my dream of being a food truck owner and operator. Partnering  with my future brother-in-law, Jordan, we began researching food truck/trailer options. We found a trailer to purchase that was practically brand new for a great price, however, the entire trailer needs to be outfit with electricity, propane, and other equipment needed to pass health and fire inspections. This equipment adds up quickly, which is why we are reaching out to family and friends for support. Any donation is extremely helpful and appreciated.

The expectation is to be serving food by early March, 2021. The menu will bring comfort food such as smashburgers, New England style steak tip sandwiches, hot dogs, fries, and a weekly special to serve many hungry mouths of Northeast Ohio. With quality as a core value, Jordan and I are perfecting as many in-house recipes as possible, such as fresh ground meat and hand cut fries.
