This little ball of floof has been my rock, my confidant, my support system, and my one static consistency in a world of unpredictable chaos. Adopted from the ASPCA as a kitten with a broken tail and separated from her mama too soon, she saw me before I saw her and chose me for her forever home. Our life together has been constant adventure and without her, some days, I don't know how else I'd have gotten by.

Summer of 2019 she began vomiting a lot. I'd brought my concerns to the vet I hadn't the time and we thought it must be hairballs from overgrooming from her anxiety and obesity (she was 13 pounds and very fluffy at the time and she's always struggled with separation anxiety probably as trauma from her kittenhood since I'm all she has). But after a stressful move across country her condition worsened dramatically. In the course of three short months she dropped from 13lbs to 4. I quickly got a new vet and she ran a full blood panel and a few other tests. Turns out my kitty had developed hyperthyroidism. Her T4 levels were dangerously high which is why she had lost weight so quickly.  We immediately put her on oral medication but after three months saw no results. We upped the dosage for an additional 3 months but the tumor was still unresponsive. So we made a full dietary change (something that only realistically works as a bandaid) and took her off the medication. A year later now her T4 levels are within normal range which was needed to qualify her for the iodine treatment. But she is unable to eat regular food because anything outside this diet (which is expensive) will exacerbate her thyroid and the tumor is still rampid. No treats, nothing. Unfortunately the diet isnt high enough in calories to help her regain weight and the longer her thyroid goes without actual treatment, the more at risk she is for it to spread, or for her kidneys, heart, and liver to fail from the stress of her metabolism.

So we have a small window to save my kitty and gift her another 5-6 years on this earth. Outside of the thyroid she's very healthy and before she fell ill you'd have never thought anything was ever wrong with her. Without treatment she might make it another year or two at best, depending on how rapidly it progresses. She's constantly uncomfortable, growing thinner, and nauseated from the disease.

Help me save my best friend, because I know she would do the same if it were me. I'll post updates about her as this progresses. Next she needs two chest x-rays and a couple of other tests before we can admit her to the specialty clinic which is included in the fundraiser cost.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your help. Bless.
